The sea and the beach
The thick pine forest and rich Mediterranean vegetation grow right up to the long sandy beach of Marina di Castagneto, and its ancient Renaissance military fort, which once stood in defence of the coastline.
The sea is crystal clear. This resort, which has repeatedly earned the European Blue Flag for the quality of its sea water, environment and warm welcome, has numerous fully-equipped bathing establishments as well as so-called “Punti Azzurri”, long portions of free beach, with basic facilities and assistance.
To be seen
Here are some suggestions
to visit precious and enchanting corners of Tuscany
There are plenty of opportunities for field trips and walks in the nearby rolling hills, open countryside, woods and pine forests that reach as far as the sea.
Whether on foot, bike or on horse-back, we can recommend some particularly interesting routes, like those along the via Bolgherese and the Viale dei Cipressi or the 3km walk along the beach of Marina di Castagneto.
And finally the Tuscan archipelago, whose little islands can be visited by organised boat trips, is worth a visit.
